6 Great Tips to Consider Before Starting Your Home Based Business
Are you considering starting your own home based business? In this economy many people are considering starting their own business and becoming their own boss. Especially, when times are tough -many people turn to direct selling as a viable option to either make a little extra cash, make large sums of money or are looking for a career change. 1. Does the company offer quality products and services? Do you feel good about representing the product and know that it is a product that will sell easily? Is it a product that is unique and something that can’t be found in a store just around the corner?
2. Can you start your business for a reasonable price? Does the company require you to make a large investment or is there a kit offered at a deep discount? Many companies offer start up kits for less than $200.00. Not only is that a great offer for you – you may also want to consider start up costs for the people you want to bring to your team. Can you start this business and get your ROI(return on investment) after your 1st or 2nd parties?
3.Does this company offer a fair compensation plan? Is this compensation plan competitive with other companies selling similiar products? Are the leaders rewarded generously? Do new consultants get incentives and opportunities early on with the company? Is the compensation plan easy to understand and are there examples showing how the compensation plan works?
4. Can you learn about the principle owners and see the vision and direction of the company clearly? Check out their website and see who there are. Do they give you background information about how the company got started and is there an easy way to contact them with questions? You may want to contact several of the consulants to get references on their experience with the company.
5. Research the hostesses program. What are the costs- does the company fund the hostess program- fully, partially or not at all? Is the hostess program competitive with similiar companies?
6. What is the reputation of the company customer service? Is it common to have backorders or fulfillment issues? Does the product get shipped in a timely manner? Does the company answer the phones and get back to you after you have left a message? Are the products dropped shipped to each customer or does the entire merchandise from the party go to the host or consultant? What are the shipping costs?
